25 Million Views!

Sometime today or overnight, I’ll cross 25 million views on Quora. I began this journey in December 2017, or roughly 6.5 years ago. I can’t thank readers enough for both reading and sharing my content, not to mention commenting, and I’m humbled by this milestone.

I don’t know what to think of it in the real world because it’s impossible to know how it translates into actual readers or if my writing is helpful in any way. This leap in views is also happening because I took on two mega topics: automotive and aloneness, and I don’t know which of the two is bigger. It makes all of my writing about entrepreneurship look trivial.

People are super-passionate about the topics of aloneness and automotive, so there are lots of notes. I can’t keep up.

What I’m most proud of with this number is that I did it without gaming the system with millions of one-sentence answers to get there. I did it by answering roughly 2,300 questions, or about 11,000 views per answer. My answers were shared over 3,000 times on other Quora pages. I’ve never asked anyone to follow me, nor have I ever done any engagement farming.

As of this writing, I’m now picking up about 50,000 views a day. None of these numbers come close to how I’m doing on the Quora Digest, where the daily totals are much higher. I’m over 122 million recipients with 663 Quora answers. I’m averaging about 185,000 recipients per answer. While it seems like huge numbers, I see little to no impact anywhere in my life when I get notice of these big numbers from Quora.

The hardest part of all this is answering all the comments and messages. According to Quora, I’ve answered almost 11,000 comments, and that doesn’t include email or follow-on messages. That number started slow when I began this journey in December 2017, but now I’m answering about two thousand a month. My answers have been upvoted over 100,000 times, and that’s net of downvotes. I’ve made top writer about a dozen times, but I never thought of tracking that number.

All of this is without any marketing and nothing but the strength of my writing and quality of my answers. There are lots of people gaming the system with one-word answers or sharing sensational content. This is all just me looking for good questions to answer and giving my best answer, as it should be.

I crossed it by early evening!
