What works for you

Now that I’m traveling around the country and I’m talking to people, they always have a reaction about what I’m doing. It’s often met with, “Yeah, I plan to do…” as if what I’m doing right now has anything to do with what’s the best course in life. I don’t have an answer to that, so you can stop reading if you want.

My success has always come from exploring and talking to people and above all taking risks. I hit a lot of dead ends. A lot! But, once in a while, I find something that tells me where I need to go next, and what I should be doing. I wish the whole world could take the same journeys I’ve been lucky enough to experience, but at the same time, what I’m doing isn’t right for everyone. It may not even be right for 99.99% of people, but for me, this is what carries me to the next thing.

Having lunch on the Lake Michigan coast.

Someone recently asked me how I became a, “success.” This is how. I take risks, and I do things that interest me. That may not work for you. I’m no oracle, but I’m happy to share what’s worked for me.

As I stop on this journey and think, “where next?” it’s a question few people ask, and now I’m forced to ask it just about every day. It’s been good for my head and the adventure has been extraordinary so far. It’s helping me become a better human. I love every part of this adventure and it’s one I’ll never ever forget.

What I do love about Wisconsin is that people will talk to you wherever you go. It’s not like Seattle where it’s okay to be rude and not acknowledge someone on a path somewhere. That would rarely happen here. It’s considered bad manners.

I still have no idea where all of this will take me. It’s fun to work on the adventure and plan what’s next. I’ve never spent this much time looking at maps in my life, but wow this is great for my head.
